Where the spores form

Gilled. Spores develop on thin plates called gills. Look underneath the cap for many thin, blade-like plates.

Did you know?

This tiny mushroom almost never grows alone. Hundreds or even thousands of mushrooms can appear together on the same old tree stump after rain. Young mushrooms are white or cream in color, but after a couple of days they turn gray-brown.
