Suillus bolete mushroom

A little-known species that has mainly been recorded by scientists studying forest fungi.

Where does it live?

Grows on the ground in pine forests.

Where the spores form

Poroid. Spores develop inside tiny tubes that open onto the surface as pores. Look for a surface covered with many tiny holes.

Did you know?

Like many Suillus mushrooms, this species depends on pine trees throughout its life - specific species of pine, Pinus latteri, after which the mushroom received its species name. If the trees disappear, the mushroom disappears as well.
