Materials
Ink and watercolour on paper

An edible mushroom, although its soft texture makes it less popular than many other boletes.

Where does it live?

Found on the ground in pine forests, often growing in groups.

Where the spores form

Poroid. Spores develop inside tiny tubes that open onto the surface as pores. Look for a surface covered with many tiny holes.

Did you know?

This mushroom cannot live alone. It grows together with pine trees, sharing nutrients through the roots. The tree provides sugars, while the fungus helps the tree absorb water and minerals from the soil.
