Latin name
Amanita virgineoides
Materials
Ink and watercolour on paper

This beautiful mushroom not for food. Many white Amanita species are very difficult to identify and can be dangerous.

Where does it live?

Grows on the forest floor in broadleaf and mixed forests, living in partnership with tree roots.

Where the spores form

Gilled. Spores develop on thin plates called gills. Look underneath the cap for many thin, blade-like plates.

Did you know?

The cap is covered with large white scales that make it look as though it has been dusted with pieces of cotton. Its unusual appearance makes it one of the easiest Amanita species to recognize.
